Released July, 2008
The Pros:RAM is easy to upgrade, very little time or effort. Battery lasts a long time between charges. USB ports on both sides to accommodate various setups.

The Eee PC 1000HD is a netbook PC that offers a blend of entertainment and productivity features from Asus' 2008 lineup. The netbook features an 10.1" widescreen LCD display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels and Asus' Super Hybrid Engine for improved performance.
It includes 1GB of DDR2 memory and differs with the 1000 model since it has a 160GB HDD and an Intel Celeron processor. At 1.45kg, the Eee PC 1000HD is slightly heavier than the 1000 due to the presence of the hard drive but still has a large keyboard that is 92% the size of a generic notebook keyboard. The netbook also offers both Wi-Fi and optional Bluetooth connectivity and has a VGA port and 3 USB ports. The Eee PC 1000HD offers a battery life of up to 4.5 hours and operates on either Windows XP Home or Linux. It is available in a fine ebony or pearl white finish.
