Product Shot 1Impulse TNX-9500 is one of the world's cheapest notebooks. Announced by Impulse in March 2009, the $199 netbook comes around the same price range as the Dell Mini 9, and a host of other very cheap netbooks that were inspired by the One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) initiative.

As they say "you get what you pay for" the TNX has its shares of problems: a rather cranky Internet Explorer and an always-on microphone that causes irritating feedback (hopefully things improve once this machine goes into full production). It is powered by a 1GHz processor and relies on Windows XP as the operating system of choice. One exciting feature about this netbook is that the OS boots from the flash drive, thus making this laptop one of the first to introduce this feature that has been much talked about it in the past.

There is also another configuration option available for this computer listed on the manufacturer's website with a 1.6 GHz processor and a 160 GB hard disk drive, an optional 1.3 MPixel webcam, three USB 2.0 ports, an ear phone jack and an SD/MMC card slot as well as 6 extra keys on the keyboard.
