Lenovo IdeaPad S12

$449.00 Released July, 2009

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Higher resolution than most netbooks - full 720p capable 1280 x 800px. Includes HDMI output. Nice keyboard layout and size.

The Cons:Basic 3-cell battery - 6-cell will be a higher priced option. Beginning to shy away from some of the pros of the netbook category (small size, cheap price, good battery life). Heavier and less mobile than smaller 10" models (3.1 - 3.4 pounds).

Introduced in late May 2009 the S12 is a 12" netbook from Lenovo. Further bluring the lines between full out notebook and handicapped netbook, the S12 features a 12" screen with 720p capable 1280 x 800px resolution.

Lenovo is not even offering the 3-cell battery at this time. 6-cell pack protrudes from rear of unit and adds too much weight.

ION option is expensive - starts at $599

Omar: #lenovo_ideapad_s12 This thing looks friggin sweet! I think that 12" is the sweet spot in regards to usability/mobility.

Combine that with the more powerful specs which allow for 1080p video all wrapped up in a pretty affordable package and you have a pretty compelling offering (on paper). If they don't skimp out on parts, make it reliable, and everything matches up nicely, then this could be a very strong contender for Netbook to beat.

The next 6 months are going to be great for people looking to buy something in the netbook market. May 26, 09
